In the nearly 70 years since the American computer scientist John McCarthy coined the term “artificial intelligence,” we’ve seen wave after wave of technological innovation, from the rise of personal computing to the internet, mobile devices, the cloud, and now, generative AI. AI makes it possible for computers to perform certain tasks that previously only humans could do, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation.
Generative AI takes that one step further. It can be used for, among other things, content creation, summarization, and question answering, as well as the creation of images based on text prompts, all using everyday language.
AI is disrupting every industry and every business. For the last decade, AI has enabled companies of all sizes to achieve better business results. There’s already mainstream business use of AI thanks to these three trends:
Access to massive amounts of data.
Access to massive computing power through the cloud.
Access to AI algorithms.
AI is now experiencing major breakthroughs. A new generation of LLM enables new use cases that weren’t possible a few years ago, such as those based on high-quality generative AI.
